My Puppy Sleeps

I see you sitting there basking in peace

Drifting in and out of sleep

Drifting in and out of dreams

I see the curled lips of what looks like a smile

I wonder what your thoughts are

I wonder what your dreams are

It’s moments like these, I too feel well

Amongst the stress and perils of these times

At least I have you, as you lay by my side

To say you’re “man’s best friend” would be an understatement.

You’re more than just a friend

You’re part of this family

The joy you bring to the room is unmeasurable.

You run and you jump.

You bark and you rump.

The fun, you bring by the wag of the tail is unfathomable

You like you walks

You like it when I talk.

As I stay at home working away, I look at you and I smile

I love you my sweet puppy.
